 One of the ads on the frontpage of Livejournal were mailorder-brides. Google-ads, aren't they supposed to fit the content of the site? If so, am I looking for a girl to do whatever I tell her while I rip her passport to shreds and treat her like dirt ( Read more... )

The ads were a large part of the reason why I stopped giving LJ my money and moved to Dreamwidth. The worst was an ad for Scientology on the front page.

Dreamwidth was set up by former LJ staff member Denise. It works the same way as LJ, but it is ad-free, has lots of women in the tech departments, values creativity and fandom, etc. Everything that made me angry about LJ seems to be absent in Dreamwidth.
