Before Pictures

Jul 14, 2008 17:58

Disclaimers: It's disgusting currently, and I'm getting professionals in to scrub everything before I even start fixing things.

After Pictures will probably come sometime in September. I expect a dramatic transformation. (I hope.)http://www.flickr.com/photos/

The lime green room? Really?

Maybe the color doesn't really come across in pictures...

It is *going* to be an awesome place. At some point in the future.

Oh, yay! It really does look like it's got good bones and good light, and wallpaper/paint/carpet is ultra-temporary. (Although that neon green looks like it would have been a good match for our neon lilac study...)

Yay! Congratulations!

It's yours now: it can be anything you really want it to be. :-)

I have to say, based on the number of air conditioners and ceiling fans, it looks like it gets hot in there at times. That is, don't be too quick to discard the idea of a fan in the dining room -- looks like there is no A/C unit in there, and we certainly use the fan over our table when it's hot (of course, in this case, the table is outside on the porch, but I think the point holds). And, you might want to make sure that the A/C units are newer than the wallpaper. ;-)

But, I think it's gonna be great! (That's "lime green"?? On my monitor, it looks more like "electric avocado" or perhaps "creamy gerkin"...hmmm, is it lunch time yet? ;-)

I think the color doesn't quite come through in the picture. It is more yellow than green, really, but it has that lovely tinge of green underneath it. It is kind of like if you take lemon and lime and then backlight it with a searchlight.

with a searchlight

I love it! :-)

If you intend to repaint the room (as opposed to using wallpaper...), you might want to be circumspect about the color you choose to paint over it: I suspect that the final result will be, uh, influenced by the current color (unless you're willing to do *lots* of coats -- our powder room required five coats of red to cover the original white...). But, y'know, I think you could work with that -- for instance, a cool light blue might turn to a nice robin's egg when laid over that green. :-)

In any case, I hope it is all a fun adventure.

I'm thinking a serious primer is in order.

The problem is, the carpet (which I'm now strongly considering ripping out anyway) is a cool silvery blue, so I really feel like a cool color would work best with it. But maybe I ought to just rip up the carpets and aim for a nice cheery yellow.
