*heh* Because it takes time and effort (especially on days when the weather isn't so nice). And, because you get used to it, and the effect is no longer so dramatic, and then it becomes easy to slack off, and then you don't notice what you're losing, and then it's gone...and you don't know/notice until the next time you "start".
(So says the guy who rides his bike like a madman from May-ish to August and then rots until they clear the sand off the road again in the spring. ;-)
