Book vs. cover

OK. Don't judge a book by the cover.

So here's the cover:

The Blue Hills

Blurb of book here: )

On the other hand, I don't want either the book suggested by the cover or the one suggested by the blurb.

The book is actually a good read and very "nice" in the way Zenna Henderson and Clifford Simak stories are "nice". I recommend it.

Just the divergence from the cover which screams "Romance" and the total absence of that in the text... dunno what to say else.

I could handle the "nice" like Zenna Henderson but agree that cover conflicts with the blurb.

If you find a copy, I'd say read it. Possibly one will be wending its way to you (via gilraen2, but that depends on the rest of the book payload).

I assumed it was a romance cover, but frankly, it looks more as if he is checking to make sure she hasn't picked up any ticks.

And how much more romantic than that could it be?

Um, yeah. Disconnect!

However, it does bring to mind L. Sprague Decamp's candidate for The Great Question of Science Fiction, namely, "WHAT is that female in a brass brassiere doing on the cover of my book?!?"

She just wandered in?

Yup. Probably to help check the gal on this book cover for ticks. *g*
