backside of Irene

Aug 30, 2011 05:33

Irene did not whack my area of living (north, but just north, of Washington, DC). We got a lot of rain, about 24 hours of steady rain. Not downpour, not sprinkle, just plodding rain. Winds were strong, but not extreme. There were a couple of power flickers, but nothing more than that ( Read more... )

Thanks for the response! We did survive without much outage/waterslop/etc... thank ghu. Even the library was open... Wahoo!

Howsomever, there is a metric (butt) ton of stuff for y'all here. Mostly books, although the cast iron frying pan is also in the pile. We need to schedule a meet-up.

Scheduling is a little more complex as I am currently employed (and due to the vagaries of public transit - you surely understand) most of Jon's and my conjoined travel probably is going to be weekendish.

OTOH, if either of you has to travel to the DC area and needs an overnight space, I can offer one. There _will_ be a cat and a fairly hard sleeping space. But it is really accessible by public transit. Welcome, indeed.

Oh, crap, we've taken a power flicker... backing out now...

You're welcome!

Talking to Jon about maybe this weekend, because otherwise we won't be free until October. (Family visiting, book signings for a new book release, etc. September got very popular all of a sudden.) However we very very very much want to see you-all, so I'm sure we'll work something out for a good visit.

I do, much, understand the vagaries of public transit. *glares meaningfully at Seattle bus system*

Thank you for the invite! I'm not likely to be heading DC-ward any time soon, but himself may be, depending on book signings and so forth.

kindasorta... my service (Tmobile) was spotty, but that is true even when we aren't having a hurricane. My housemates have Verizon and Sprint and didn't seem to have any problems.
