National Library Card Sign-Up Month! It originated in the late eighties as a way for librarians to remind kids not to forget to get their most important back-to-school supply. Yep, a library card.
My first library card was cardboard with a little metal square in the corner, as I recall... and since we tend toward the overdue ourselves, I always try to check books out for the "vacation" period of 6 weeks;) And if all else fails, our dear library has a "Food for Fines" program in November that wipes out your fines if you bring in some canned food for the city food bank - a sweet deal all around!
Love it! How cute! I predict The Librarian will be the next dance craze to sweep the nation! (And I discoverd I had been pronouncing your last name wrong! Oops!)

I once had a blue card with the metal in the corner. I had forgotten all about it until I read your description. Ah, memories!
