This IS a disgrace. My husband actually gave me a ticket to her garden tour as a birthday present several years ago, and while I was thrilled to go, I came home a little sad at the experience. I was able to meet Ms. Tudor, and shake her hand, but her heart wasn't in it and I felt as if she truly didn't want all of us there traipsing around her place. I think the tours were a plan hatched by her children. I was sorry I went.
That is sad. Her lifestyle was not for everyone but in our fast-paced world, I admired her. It's sad to think of her heart not being into the visits but understandable.
What did you think of this part of the article:
What would Tasha Tudor make of it all?
"Quite frankly, I think she'd smile," said Thomas Tudor. "That's what she wanted. She wanted controversy. It beats me. I'd never do that to my children."
That comment from Thomas Tudor mystified me. Does he really believe that about his own mother? Worse still, did she really feel that way? It's frightening to think about.
Oh, yes, my hubby is a sweetheart. I plan to keep him!
I wonder too: Did she feel that way? It is scary to think about. I reread teh article again. So much bitterness. I also can't stop thinking about this part:
"It's fine when you're a child and you have the doll parties and her marionette shows and all the wonderful fantasy things she did. My friends envied me," said Holmes, who lives in Contoocook, N.H. "But when you grow up and you have a parent who absolutely refuses to talk to you about real-life issues, it's a problem."

I can certainly see how hard that must have been.
