mine brings home books! Now that John's a K-5 media specialist, I get my daily dose of picture book reading without having to trudge through the snow and ice. These were his choices from yesterday. Two of them (Cowboy Camp and Little Chimp's Big Day) I had already read but reread again:

Now what kid isn't obsessed with trucks? I had a girly girl (now grown) and even she loved this sort of books.

And interesting re the phone booth. Norman Juster was on npr a few days ago talking a bit about The Phantom Tollbooth saying how soon no one will know what a tollbooth was.

You're right...when I was a librarian, I had to have TONS of truck books avialable at all times! I even had two huge Tonka Trucks that I could fit about ten truck books into the back. So many kids would head straight to those trucks!

The illustrator MUST have a kid obsessed with trucks. (I sent books back already. Not sure who author/illustator is.)

The kid lining the cars up on the mom's legs as she relaxes in a chair is priceless. What car-loving kid didn't do that?

I loved the total obsessivness of this kid and how he turned his new pet cat into a trucker, too.
