On Mon. we went out to do some errands, one was stopping by Target and Walmart so Ben and I could buy some Indiana and Colts souvenirs for ourselves and for Ben's young niece and nephew (who asked for Colts attire). Afterwords we ate at Chik-Fil-A for lunch (not in Seattle) and headed over to both the Zionsville Country Market and Stuckey Farms.

We sure did have lots of fun. We flew there. Seattle to Indy is a long ass way, and now that I have a job, I couldn't afford that much time off to drive out there. Though back in the summer time when I was unemployed and still had unemployment benefits, and all that freetime, we had thought about driving out there, heh! But I knew it was gonna take like a week and a half to two weeks (entire length of trip) since it'd take like several days each way to drive. Perhaps some other summer we'll do that and camp along the way.

If you ever decide to drive the trip, know that you can come crash at my apartment for a night if you need/want to. :) Sioux Falls, SD is about halfway between Seattle and Indianapolis, you know :)

Perhaps we'll stop there but who knows if we'll go that way. I'll definitely think about it though, :)

Anyway, I added you as a friend here on LJ a little while back because Mica knows you and I remember you from the good old days on the TMNT mailing list. :-)
Also, I wanted to say that is one awesome Ninja Turtle pumpkin! How long did it take? Were there any special tips or tricks involved in carving one like that? Heh, sorry, I am a major novice when it comes to pumpkin carving.
Take care,
Jenn

The turtle pumpkin didn't take too terribly long. Maybe 45 mins to an hour. What I did was I just carved small lines which is part of the out line. I just couldn't carve them completely all the way up, otherwise the whole thing would fall out, lol! But like say on the chin of the face...I'd carve a short line there...then the top, right part of cheek, I'd carve a small line there. That way you can see more outlines.
There's some really fancy pumpkin carving you can do. Go on Google and do a search. Several sites came up where they show you how to like gouge out a layer of the pumpkin and do some really detailed stuff. Or if you're a complete novice you can also look up pumpkin carving kits online that give patterns which you can print out.

Thank you so much for telling me how you carved that! I'm going to give it a try next year, so I'll have an entire year to do all the carving research I need. :-)
Take care,
Jenn
