Took the first dose at 1p today, with two boiled eggs and a bit of pastry and a glass of apple juice. Ate a bit, took the meds, finished my food, then had coffee. It was surprisingly hard to make myself take the pills

Hee! It's actually very good advice with this stuff - as long as my kidneys are working properly, the drug levels should stay well below toxicity levels in my body. Staying hydrated is very good advice right now!
And yes, I am drinking lots of juice for the Vit C ;)
Supposedly the injectable form of the drug causes fewer tummy troubles, but since you're only going to be on it for a little while, I can see why your doc went the oral meds route.
The injectibles do have much fewer side effects, but insurance companies tend to complain about paying the extra cost for them without a positive diagnosis. Since in my case the treatment *is* the diagnosis, we're starting with the oral dosage and hoping to transition as soon as possible.
I would love to talk to you about it! The levels for treating PA are a bit higher than RA, so I'll hit 20 mg/week very soon, and will probably go higher than that if the PA diagnosis is confirmed. I'd love to hear what your experience has been like, both when you first started and over the long term.
