My sympathies. I'm all too familiar with not puking but still feeling gross. Do the side affects with this drug get better as your body adapts?
I'll think positive thoughts in your direction. I know what its like to have to choose between side effects and symptoms. If you ever want to whine in my direction I'll happily listen.
Right now, my dosage will be increasing every 2 weeks until either the PA/RA symptoms improve or my bloodwork shows signs of deadly side effects or we reach the 10-week mark with no signs of improvement at all (I suspect this last one is highly unlikely - if I go 6 weeks with no signs of improvement, I'm guessing the doc will call it there and try something else). Given that, I expect that my body won't really have a chance to adapt to any given dosage.
However, if this works, I can transition to better drugs with much milder side effects, though I'll likely have to put up with self-injections rather than simply taking pills. Those drugs are more expensive, so insurance companies generally would rather experiment with the cheap-but-deadly ones. I would complain, but I've been pretty happy with the relatively small chunk we've had to cover from my hand surgery, and this is only for a couple of months at worst.
Do me a favor and have them keep an eye on your Thyroid through all of this too. I have know too many people who's Thyroid went wonky after Cancer treatments to consider it a coincidence...
I will definitely mention that. I'm going in for biweekly blood draws - they're tracking a variety of things to make sure that none of the deadly side effects are occurring.
