I don't know a hell of a lot about computers, but hubby has been ear bashing me lately about the next time we upgrade and telling me we're going AMD all the way. Apparently AMD is much better than Intel.

Have you done a net search for reviews on ZT? There'd have to be some out there if they've gotten big enough to supply Costco.

I did try to google them, but there aren't a lot of independant reviews out there, at least that I could find. And those I did find seem pretty evenyly split either way - on the love / hate level. Didn't seem to be any middle ground.

Well, I guess it's a 'suck it and see' kind of situation then. If you think they've got what you want, and the price is right, give it a shot.

Just got back from Costco where I asked one of their computer salesmen... He said they were basically cheap crap. So I'm not going to get one. He actaully gave me the name of a place here in town that can customize a tower for me and recommended an IbuyPower or CyberPower. So I think I'll look into those.

well i am a macer, but i do pc's at work and my sons all build them. the AMD used to be a good processor but the quality has gone down severely lately. in contrast, the Intel processors have come UP in reliability as macintosh now uses them and refuses to use crap. however, the best thing to do is what my sons do: order the parts and build it. you will get an outstanding machine for about a third of the cost. when you buy those ready-made set-ups, the components are often inferior. you can find this out by going to newegg.com and looking up those parts. when you see what they charge and what the ratings show, you'll understand why the price on those is so cheap. but you can get good stuff and spend around the same if you do it yourself. it is not hard. when they were teens, i bought basically a box of components for each of my sons and handed it to them with the instructions. up and running in a matter of hours. now they wouldn't do it any other way. goodluck :)
