Penny the Scarab goes to Luxor

Shadows of Amun was this weekend, and as a perm NPC, I was there. It was our first game in 30BC, and I had fun being various characters, from murderous slaves to Roman charioteers.

But the most fun I had was being a talking bug.

When I got to Monster Camp on Friday, I heard

I totally thought the PCs had already been in 30 BC? Guess not! The scarab role sounds excellent. I love the idea of a scarab drone as a truce gift. How did the PCs decide on their Hive Queen?

We arrived in 30 BC at the very end of game 6; what should have been game 7 got cancelled due to the site being closed. So this is the first full game in 30 BC.

I think Mrs. Loring is the only female character with the Scarab trait? So that was easy ;)

At this point all the scarabs and hosts are pretty public about it (fighting with claws, Mrs. Loring now has wings on the back of her costume, Loring and Conor's creepy addictive incestuous pseudosexual thing, etc), so I trust I'm not betraying any deep spoilers. I mean, Conor and Mrs. Loring were telling everyone at breakfast on Sunday, "so, if a scarab shows up looking for her queen..."

All of these things make a surprising amount of sense, more than I expected.
