A much-belated 2016 resolutions post

Said I to myself, at the end of December/beginning of January: “Who needs goals and resolutions? I just want to have fun in 2016! ANARCHY WOOOO.”

And thus commenced some of the worst depression in my life.

While we are in this modern world (i.e. not in a monastery) we are, absolutely, human doings. This is great news because that means we can use effort and will and expertise to maximize our human experience (and our sense of self-worth). None of those attributes can help you "be".

You already "do" (i.e. produce) so much. Instead of judging what you produce by the standards of arbitrary goals, please try to instead choose to see your accomplishments *in themselves* as sources of worth.

(The only religion that is compatible with this point of view is David Allen's GETTING THINGS DONE. Just putting that out there.)
