The major problem that I find in the way we receive our liberal arts education in college is that it does not prepare us for the "real world." And I don't only mean that we receive no guidance in regard to possible jobs our majors provide us, but I haven't a clue how to set up a proper resume, give a solid job interview, or even how to pay taxes. I'm sure we'll all have a rude awakening once graduation comes around.
A series of excellent points. I've gotten so caught up in the courses I find interesting, that sometimes I don't think of what I'm going to use them for. In high school, things weren't as interesting, and were sometimes extremely annoying, so that probably made me think more about why we need it. But it's certainly a valid question for college as well
