More awesome stuff! My bff has birds (and i'm visiting her this weekend), and so of course i showed her the bird pics and she loved it. They're *so* pretty. And the 'apostles'? Very cool.
All your food pics/descriptions are making me hungry, damnit. :)
i did find it odd that the airport restrooms had signs on the doors to not squat, but to use toilet paper to cover the seats. if they wanted that action, why not provide seat covers?
The third picture is not inviting people to use toilet paper to cover the seats (that's largely an American thing, in my experience), but advising guests to put their (used) toilet paper into the bowl before flushing. Visitors from a number of Asian countries have somewhat different bathroom habits to us - including squatting (okay if your toilet is low to the ground and designed for such action - AU ceramic toilets are not and can shatter, and that's unpleasant for everybody). Due to poor plumbing, used toilet paper is put in a rubbish bin next to the bowl itself, and then incinerated or otherwise disposed of.
OH. that makes more sense. yeah, there were gross biohazardy trashcans in nearly every bathroom i entered in china. your story makes much more sense than mine.
Yay! I was wondering if you got to the Zumbo patisserie. I'm not a huge desserty person but I'll have to check one out, there are like... hm... five of them in Sydney apparently, OH wait I know where the one in the QVB is. Yes. I will do that next time I'm up there. I do, however, know Loving Earth chocolate; so sooo good.
Your scenic photos of Victoria are lovely, I enjoyed those. I haven't spent much time in Victoria, I've been to Melbourne city for a number of trips and I've driven through it on the way to Tasmania, but otherwise my knowledge of anywhere that isn't inner Melbourne is scanty. Also BIRDS. <3 I love galahs and cockatoos, they're the best. A friend of mine, whose husband is from New Zealand, has a great story about him being convinced they were going to be attacked by some terrible beast the first time he heard a flock of cockatoos flying overhead
