Actually, my dad would speak Portuguese and nobody who was Spanish-speaking could understand him, but he could generally understand the Spanish.

I was just pricing out a winter trip to Iceland... from the East Coast, $400 airfares from WOW and off-season hotel rates make it super tempting. Plus it'll be peak aurora season, if you ever get a break from the cloud cover (which I didn't last time).
