Tomatoes

Does anyone want a couple tomato plants? They're volunteers from random cross breeding from last year that I let go to seed in late fall, so I'm not sure what they'll turn out like. I had a few random tomatoes last year that were all yummy. If you want a few plants, let me know! I don't need to keep all 20 that popped up this year.

I'll take one! I know nothing about growing them, though.

They like lots of sunlight, and water at the roots. And they get these caterpillars that eat the leaves and tomatoes that require squishing. They are very big gross green caterpillars. :)

I bet Gavin would love to help squish caterpillars. Can they live in a giant flower pot on the deck?

Yes, they sure can. You'll need a bamboo pole or some other stick about 3 or 4 feet long to tie them up to- tomatoes are actually vines and love going everywhere- but they're also happy to be tied loosely. In a pot, you'll probably need to water them every other day since that will dry out a bit faster than in the ground.
