I've been thinking about the whole living in an RV/bus thing. And one thing I would desperately miss is my garden (actually was joking around about taking a bit of my home earth with me kind of like a vampire which led to an idea of putting a coffin shaped garden on top of the bus/RV- hey, it is the ultimate DORK adventure!). I really like the idea of window boxes. No reason you can't just bring them inside while you're driving because I imagine the majority of your time would actually be parked rather than in transit. You could make it so that the can hang either inside or outside the window, though I suppose it would depend on the design of the RV.

I think it's a great idea; I've seen it done *somewhere* on the Intartubes, but I haven't been able to find the pics agan, darnit.

Window boxes would be great. Make them about a foot deep and you can grow anything. I suggest a copy of Square Foot Gardening.

DEFINITELY removeable. Not only will they make your vehicle too wide, the plants whipping in the wind will be a road hazard. And other drivers will not appreciate being pelted with your green tomatoes. 8)
