you don't realize you're fine

once again the new(ish) nada surf album perfectly matches exactly where i am in my life. if someone asked, i'd say they were my favorite band. i'm cutting the lyrics of the song that brought me to this realization.

The world's locked up in your head
You've been pouring in a concrete bed
Your habits ossified
You don't realize you're fine.

To find someone you love
You gotta be someone you love

The reason's somewhere in the din
But it takes years till it sinks in
You've used up the easy streets,
And you lost your taste for treats
You're so fried

To find someone you love
You gotta be someone you love

Stay high if you have to
Do whatever it asks you
You got another calling
Don't let it pass you

You know it cause you wrote it
You just didnt think you'd actually do it
It's just another wish you wished in a very long list

To find someone you love
You gotta be someone you love
To find someone you love
You gotta call your own bluff

ok, so maybe it's about a drug habit. BUT, maybe it's also about ceasing to make excuses and loving your self.

anyway, it's been a while since i updated so let's do a REALLY quick recap.

We finished shooting the movie.

I left Berlin and got caught up in the terrorist shit in london. alles klar.

Back in the states, there's been a few new developments.

FIRST OF ALL:

These shoes have TAKEN OVER AMERICA. seriously, everyone wears them in every place i've been so far. it's absolutely ridiculous and i hate them. even if the reversable strap is pretty cool.

also...

They're doing cloud advertisements in New York City now.

And there's a weekly kickball game between the dj's (and friends of djs) who put on rival dance nights in northampton. i played for "purity supreme" even though my heart was with "flood the basement."

also in northampton...
I found a sweet apartment on Main street. that's the best street. the place is all mine. two rooms, hardwood floors, no mold, no roommates. very affordable. i get to keep my cat. the landlord is amazing. basically, it's my dream apartment and i've signed a year lease.

then i drove to arkansas by myself. that's 1300 miles. longest loner road trip yet.
on the way i stopped in poughkeepsie, ny. my friend dan and i camped on the vassar college campus under a big tree with droopy leaves that hid our tent.

now i'm in arkansas. at my mom's house. i've been lying low since i've been back. hanging out with mom and mariano. basically crashing after a super busy summer.

soon ryan and i will drive to DC, Philadelphia, NYC, and finally massachusetts where i will settle in and STAY FOR A WHILE.

i don't know how this summer worked out the way it did, but i'm grateful for it.

The end.
