Today is my first day as a licensed veterinarian. I somehow managed to run a clinic by myself and didn't kill anything, and admited one sickie whom I'm hoping will get better with my symptomatic treatment ( Read more... )

Yay! You're in practice.

Hate to say it, but this is my third year out and I still feel clueless at times. I suppose the key is *knowing* you don't know in those situations. No harm in looking it up. If on the farm, stabilize, call in or read up and treat accordingly after. Taking a CBC allows you to get a better idea of what is happening, buy time and discuss with colleagues especially if it's an odd case.

No black flies here yet. When they come, it will be hell. Still frosting. There are a few mosquitoes, however.

Yeah, I think I just need to realize that I can't have all the answers immediately ALL the time. Thanks for the encouragement :)

There are still a few frosty nights here, but warming up fast. The weather has been beautiful. But you're much farther north than me :) At least they're not biting...yet.
