Actually, I was probably the first one to think that we'd never make it. (I predicted that it would take no more than three months for me to lose interest or for him to run screaming.) I certainly wasn't the last, and a lot of well-meaning friends and relatives told me I was crazy, that we made no sense together, etc.
None of it was ill-intentioned. I was an over-achiever with commitment issues and he was a slacker that wasn't good at "emotional stuff." We don't look so good on paper! Luckily, things have a way of working out how they're supposed to, whether you think they will or not.

And I've gotta say, it is nice to hear someone say that we make a nice couple. Everyone did at the wedding, of course, but most of those were the same people who were telling us we were crazy 5 years before!
