Post-Ep Review: The Rashomon Job (Leverage)

Aug 25, 2010 13:55

Cut for spoilers because I'm thoughtful that way.

I thought this episode was brilliant. I laughed all the way through. It was a great way to show that though each of these characters had their own distinguished criminal career before getting together, it is together that they do their finest work. It was also a great example of the "Blind Men and the Elephant" story I read about in my studies of Buddhism in modern context. Brilliant.

I loved how each person heard Sophie completely differently and wrong. As a totally Lord of the Rings nerd, her accent being compared to a dwarf's cracked me up. I'm a loser, I know. And Parker not understanding a word she said was also very...Parker.

The scene where Eliot gets attacked and calls the guys second-rate thugs ("If I'm not honest with ya, you can't ever improve") made me giggle. I wonder if the number 7 on the back of his vest has some significant meaning on the show or if it was just a coy reference to Christian Kane's song "The House Rules". And his discussion with the doctor was just so cool.

Parker being intent on Eliot cutting Hardison's throat with a big ass knife was, again, very Parker. I really love her.

More Parker! More Parker! (Okay, I'm done)

The actor playing the Head of Security got a work out...Going from brilliant, gun-toting crime stopper to love-sick doofus.

I'm very interested in how they go about getting the dagger together...Maybe there is a fic coming? My writer's block is totally kicking my ass.

So, in short, the episode was hilarious even if you don't regularly watch the show (my brother who is a bit slow was confused by the repeating storyline, but everyone else in the room was giggling). So go watch it...On OnDemand or TNT's site, wherever...You just really need to see it.

review, leverage
