Viggo Mortensen knighted

cairistiona7  drew my attention to this - would you believe I hadn't noticed it! - and I just have to spread the word. XD

Today, on HM Queen Margrethe II's 70th birthday, several Danes were honoured with 'Ridderkorset', among them Viggo Mortensen who is now a 'Ridder of Dannebrog'.
Congratulations, Viggo!! )

I hadn't heard!

And Mads Mikkelsen is also in the recent remake of Clash of the Titans. ;)

I hadn't noticed it, either, until Cairistiona's post. But it's really cool!

Oh yes, Clash of the Titans... have you seen it?

Congratulations to Viggo! I'm interested in the protocol as I didn't even know other monarchies had knighthoods. I know your Queen's illustrations though. She's very good.

Well, I'm not sure this order is quite parallel to the British system, but then I don't really know much about it; it's never been relevant before. *g*

But it's really great that he received the honour. Oh, and Morten Olsen, coach of the national football team, received the same order. As a Brit, I'll sure you'll understand this. ;-)

lol - you think so? It certainly looks impressive on the page.

I wonder how Viggo feels about it all; have you seen any statements from him? Looked like he'd twittered something.

Thanks again for posting about the good news! :-)

You're very welcome. :) I haven't seen anything from Viggo about this... he's not on twitter, that I know of (he doesn't seem like the twitter/facebook/social media type, somehow). But I imagine as soon as he says a word about it, it'll show up on viggo-works. I'll post if it does. :)
