Melissa! See, I can be friendly too! I'm pretty sure we don't include the abstract in our word count, but I'm not positive. Wait, here's my IB EE thing: "The upper limit is 4000 words for all EEs. This upper limit includes the intro, the body, the conclusion and any quotations, but does not include: the abstract" and other stuff. The maximum word count for the abstract is 300. So, there you go, then. Straight from IB. Good luck!
