I'm finally at college! I didn't post so long becuase I wanted to wait til I had some awesome pics.
This is at the airport before Outdoor O. skadi, Carrie, Laurel, and Rebecca
After a wicked long drive, 5 1/2 hours to get to teh sierra national forest we set up camp
checked out the stream where we found random places to sit
We also learned how to clean our tupperware ("tuppies") with dirt and pine needles.. joy. I swear, all of our mouths dropped. We had latrines (sadly, no picture of them). We did some cool hikes. The first real day we got dropped off to hike to this waterfall
This is a big group shot of everyone hiking to the waterfall
This is Lara, julia, kat and skadi. A sweet crew i hung out with. Sans rebecca right now bc at this point she was still backpacking
This is the waterfall. Absolutely gorgeous
Here's a couple of us in front of the waterfall
So then the trail just sort of ended but then there were these huge rocks you could walk on to get to the actual pools of the waterfall. Here's a pic of people bouldering. I dont have a pic of us bathing but we did (some of us!) and it was freaking freezing but felt so so so good. wow. It was the most exhilirating/cool thing i did on the trip!
The next best thing we did at Outdoor O was the freaking long 8 mi hike we did to this lake. We ran into a run down shack
Took lots of breaks bc of the high elevation. You really needed to make an effort to stay hydrated
More bouldering
While getting lost until.. dadadadun! We found the lake!
The last day we spent at this other lake.. and spent the whole day there swimming, reading, etc.
Here's reb and i!
Then everyone came back from backpacking and we had a huge campsite full of people
Here are the counselors
And here are Anne Marie and Steph - it was so cool they were our leaders
On the way back we got stranded for the whole day while one of the buses broke down and we waited in the air conditioned subway
So all in all a crazy trip but wicked fun. Hope you enjoyed the pics! More pics of the room and whatnot to come...
