Wow lots of travelling fun! Also about pumpkin pie - I couldn't imagine it with roast just as I'm sure you couldn't imagine it in a pie. Now I want to try pumpkin in roast (as opposed to carrots).

Ha ha! My American friend (who convinced me to try pumpkin pie) said the same thing! We eat pumpkin and sweet potato roasted - exactly the same as you would eat roasted potatoes.
We also stick egg and beets (but we call them beetroot) on our hamburgers - McDonalds calls it a 'Kiwiburger'. Another thing my American friend said sounded disgusting but I LOVE IT! Yum!
It's surprising how different our tastes are actually. :) But I do love pumpkin pie now that I've tried it. Still skeptical about sweet potato in a dessert though. lol

Egg and beets? Wow! I'm going to keep that in mind - that seems like such an odd combination.

Sweet potato as a dessert (with marshmellows, nuts and other yummy stuff) is a must at any Thanksgiving dinner. I've had sweet potatoes roasted before, they are very good. I want to try pumpkin as a regular potato kind of dish now, it sounds really interesting. :D
