Ten pounds of rice doesn't fit in a 13x9 cake pan, so I grabbed another cake pan from under the cabinet and put the rest in that.  (We'd needed room in the freezer, and rice needs to warm up in air after freezing or it gets moldy.  Household tips from Marsh

A friend of mine once made brownies in a 13x9 glass baking pan. When he took them out to cool he set the pan halfway on the stovetop, halfway on the counter, and forgot about them. No big deal ... except that the stovetop burner was on.

Luckily, the weight of the brownies contained most of the shrapnel in the resulting explosion.
