Wiki Link Personality:
In one word, Nai is pure. He practically is a white slate who learns new things daily and grows as his life (and the story) goes on. Starting out as a child who knew nothing about the world outside the woods, he slowly understands the concept of relationships and what the world really is. Because of this, he is often a curious child asking many questions. In fact, most of his lines end in questions or even just a silent tilt of his head. He’s always excited about learning. It could be because of his naivety, or just his overall personality, but Nai does say things bluntly at times. He asks questions straight on even if they might sound like taboo topics. He also says statements that seem to hit right at home. Of course, Nai does all this without himself noticing. It just seems to be a natural thing of his.
Being a child who knows not much, he often gets scared easily. However, surprisingly sometimes he does things without really thinking much. Such as throwing a rock at a dangerous man trying to kill his friends, or shielding his friends. As you can see, it mostly has to do with his friends. Nai is a straightforward, caring child, so if his precious friends are in danger he will do anything to protect them, even if he knows he cannot do much. He tries to do his best in everything and be of a help, and dislikes when people get hurt because of him or when he drags them down. When not with his friends, his instinct seems to move him. Contrary to his looks, he is quite a determined child when he wishes to be.
Nai’s honest personality causes many people to trust him. He doesn’t have any ulterior motives or hidden thoughts. He doesn’t hide his feelings, which lets even doubting people become friendly with Nai.
As mentioned above, friends mean a lot to Nai. Before he left his home in the Niji Woods, he only had Karoku to talk to. This changed when he went outside and met with Gareki and the people of the Circus. He learned the meaning of friendship, and he values them greatly. He considers all people he’s spent some time with his friend and enjoys talking to them. The concept of family, however, is still something he doesn’t understand thoroughly. Many people say Karoku is his family, so he seems to consider him as family. He understands family is more important, but he seems to sometimes mix it up with “friend” often.
As of now, Nai is not only learning elementary academics, but how to get along with people and understand them. By watching and listening, he learns a lot about the people and environment around him, and Nai uses what he learns. He wants to be able to end up as a person who gives “warmth” to other people as they had given him. And to be able to come back to a place where they can all happily laugh together. However, his top priority for now is finding Karoku wherever he is and bringing him back.
What your character can offer: Nai, being a mix of a Niji and Human, has traits of the Niji species. The one that stands out the most is his acute sense of hearing. His ears able to pick up what most people are unable to, such as a radio wave or the sound of a small voice in a blizzard. On quiet nights, he said he was able to hear the voices of the people far and wide, all over the place. However, it seems his hearing is not limited to actual voices. He also stated being able to catch what sort of feeling the people near him were feeling. If this was either some sort of telepathy or just acute senses is a bit unknown, but as of now it seems to be leaning toward telepathy, as he was able to listen to the feelings of an animal. Also, this seems to be limited only to Karoku, but he is able to talk to Karoku through a dream, although during this dream he seems to be in quite a pain. His hearing also helps him with directions as he can navigate through sound waves rather than sight. This is due to the Niji Woods (his home place) having many mirages and so animals that lived there could not rely on sight to get where they needed to go. His other animalistic part is his instinct. Nai is able to move at times from instinct, which at times end him up in either good or bad positions.
Other than those two however, Nai is just a frail boy who doesn’t have any special strength or is a genius. (Obviously, because he’s still learning how to read and doesn’t know even the most generic of things such as “time” or “age”.)
What items will they be bringing with them?
-Hospital clothes he’s wearing
-Circus ID bracelet (that does nothing, but is very precious to him)
-A cardigan
