I got through The Bell Jar but just couldn't handle her diaries. I was reading it along with The Bastard on the Couch, and the two books were definitely negatively impacting my mood.
Really? The bad part is I don't find it depressing, really... because some small things remind me of myself, which I hope does not eman I'll have a mental breakdown.
I think that a lot of The Bell Jar speaks to a certain archetype; there were parts that I identified with, too. The diaries seemed grim and tedious to me....plus it was a bit like watching a slasher movie: you know the end is coming for the blonde at the end.

I don't think I want to finish the book though well not yet.
I have to finish Anna Karenina first, if I ever will
