So I have a lot of free time. And, because I have a lot of free time, I end up spending a lot of time online, where I encounter a lot of fandom stuff and a lot of sexism/racism/general douchebaggery. I occasionally rant in my LJ and I sometimes do it on tumblr, but I decided to make it a little more formal.

So I started a blog about Feminism andRead more... )

Good for you starting that blog! I've been more and more interested in feminism, racism and such this year. It's one of those once you see it you can't unsee it things. It's made me like a show like TVD less and less.

Fanfaction to me is still something I'll always love. I was writing it not even knowing the term was fanfiction. Love reading it too. It's one of the first things I do when I 'discover' a new show. But I would NEVER want people offline to know what I write, let alone read. And not just because of the privacy factor. It can be used against you both offline and online. And I learned (kind of) the hard way that it might be best to keep those two worlds separate.

But the legal issue is the bigger one. When you've send your story it, it seems like it becomes theirs. To do with as they want. So no credit to you. And I'm sure 14 year olds won't read the fine print. Like the first TVD writer...
