A Babylon 5 marathon

A few weeks back I had a car accident. I got hit hard enough to total my car, and it turned out my headache was more than a simple headache and whiplash. I got a concussion. I didn’t even know you could concuss yourself just by wacking your brain against the inside of your skull. Luckily, it was minor, but it completely got in the way of my writing ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you weren't hurt worse!

Thanks for the reminder about Delenn; I got the first season of B5 out to start watching this afternoon.

I hope you heal quickly and can get back to all your projects soon.

I am too. The woman was on the cell phone. I really hate people who text and drive. And I hope you enjoy your rewatch. I really love Delenn. Hell, I love the whole show.

That’s the reason I had so much trouble with Ziva in NCIS. She played at being the sex kitten, but she rarely if ever had actual emotional development. And when she did, the writers used every opportunity to show her as emotionally damaged.

THIS!!!! Plus how she was the catalyst for Tony's damn MANPAIN. Blecch!

I hope you feel all the way better soon. *hugs*

I liked Ziva at first... the idea of her trying to escape her father's manipulations. But then the writers just hit the same note over and over and over until I was sick of her.

NCIS has always had a problem writing women. They are just not capable.

I so hoped Bishop could be the normal human woman with a career and husband, but nope.

I'm so sorry to hear about your car accident! I hope you're feeling better soon, and that you're able to get back to writing. I remember B5 fondly. (Ziva not so much. *g*)

my personal pet peeve is the 'women who don't want kids of their own are cold, evil bitches'. and if they're not, they're just waiting for the right man to sweep them off their feet so they can abandon this corporate job and be their True Selves.

i've even seen this pop up in fanfic a time or two.

but i have to say, as a 40-mumble (!!!) year old woman who loves being an engineeer and loves math and physics far more than people... that's not true. i'm ok with most kids, i just don't want any of my own. and considering how busy i am chasing my own dreams, any guy who's interested would have to run to keep up - and have dreams that at least dovetail with mine. Mine are too important to me to give up, even for love... and boy does that sound selfish, but honestly, it's not!

ETA: *blushes* and glad you're feeling better.... i got so excited about the 'what's wrong with women's portrayals in media comment' i just about forgot that you'd had an accident! sorry.

Don't you even worry. The female portrayal in media topic gets me so hot under the collar that I lose the ability to see anything else. As someone else who doesn't want kids, I get sick of being told I'll change my mind. I'm fifty. I haven't changed my mind!
