So, the last fanish thing I wrote was a long Steter fic from Teen Wolf. I binged a bunch of fanfic, and there were a few things that annoyed me

I wish i liked Stiles/Peter. I like them separately, and i like them with other people, but I don't like them together as lovers/'ship.

I *really* wish i liked them because your fic sounds fucking awesome as hell. SO MANY FUCKING PLOT ISSUES! I like reading a well-crafted fic that does its best to fix those glaring, stupid, annoying issues.

I may very well give your fic a look-see, but I can't promise I'll read through to the end.

But - and this is all part of it - you are an excellent writer whom I trust, so......

I don't like them jumping right into a relationship. They both have to grow a lot. It actually takes over three years for these versions of Peter and Stiles to make it work. And before that, they spend a lot of time manipulating each other. And yeah, what is up with the plot holes in that universe. Dude. Did the writers get stoned on a regular basis or what?

From what I gathered - and a lot of this was filtered through Darkhavens, who was way more into the fandom than i was (we would watch 'together' via ICQ chat and bitch about it) - the showrunner/creator guy thought that Scott was the be-all and end-all of the show, the characters, etc., and got publicly miffed when Stiles turned out to be *more* popular

Holy crap. Well, I guess I am so very glad that (as usual) I came to the fandom late. The secondary characters often do end up more popular because the show writers haven't pinned them into a corner and explored every aspect of their lives. Face it, Scott is boring. We know how he's going to react and he's the least layered character on the show. But he is also a Gary Stu, so I guess I can see why the showrunner got butt hurt. I'm not sorry that they backed off the Derek/Stiles vibe because Stiles pushed a rape victim too hard and Derek used werewolf strength to hurt Stiles too often for my taste (something I address in my story), but I do see those two has having a great brother vibe. Not healthy as life partners, but always willing to have each other's backs. Now, with some therapy or self-reflection I could see them making a good couple, but as they existed on the show, it was a little uncomfortable. And the bite Scott set up? Rapy vibes. Yuck

So many plot holes! I hate when the fans keep better track of the details than the creator/writers. JD couldn't even keep the ages/birthdates of his characters straight.

But the biggest issue for me is f. What the hell is up with Deaton. Seriously? What? Thank goodness for fandom coming up with so many possibilities, but he was definitely a bad guy imo.

I had Peter explain him to Derek. He said that everyone was the hero of his own story, and Deaton saw himself as Merlin guiding a young man down the path to moral goodness. He said Scott reminded Deaton of Talia and Deaton saw this as a chance to redeem himself for not being strong enough or smart enough to save the Hales.

I had to do something to make that character work because so much of the canon is illogical
