YAY JOBS!

I GOT AN INTERNSHIP AT PIXAR!!!!

I know haven't been posting very much. School is very rough and totally kicking my ass. But somehow, magically even, it paid off. I was really worried about landing an internship during the fall. I didn't get any call backs and the few that did call me back never contacted me after the interview. However, Spring semester totally worked out. I got an offer from Adobe first, either as a Digial Imaging engineer or a Acrobat Engineer. They were willing to pay me way more than I ever got with a regular job.

What's funny is that I struggled to choose which position I wanted. Totally went with DI Imaging. Now Pixar is doing the same thing! I get to choose between Production Engineering, which is working with movies and with Reid's friend Sam, and Software Engineering, which is working on the next gen tools. I am totally leaning towards Production, however I have to do QA work and QA sounds very evil.

After attending an info session at Pixar, I decided to apply, thinking I wouldn't get the job. I totally thought that I should hold off applying since I didn't have enough skills in graphics (haven't taken CS 184 which is the mathy 3D graphics course), and my C++ skills are kind of meh. I really don't know what made me apply excatly. I think their info session gave me the motivation to apply, since software positions were available. The people presenting even said I didn't need CS184. After applying, I got an on-campus interview and my interviewer was so nice. I asked what I should brush up on within C++ if I were to get a second interview and she told me excatly what to study for.

After studying all those new C++ terms, the technical questions regarding C++ during the second round were really easy. The only one I had trouble with is how I would change Google Android. I said something really lame, and thought up a better answer right after I hung up after the phone interview. Everyone from Pixar seemed so awesome and very nice. That was my dream copy to work at and I cannot believe I got the position.

Reid also helped me out by introducing me to his friend Sam, who is the Project Manager in Production Engineering. Gave me a lot of good advice. Sam also ended up interviewing me, which was awesome!

The only thing that is holding me back from accepting Pixar is salary. Adobe offered a higher salary and I don't know if I should go about asking Pixar to match it or even raise is a little. Do any of you guys have any experience with this? I mean, I just want to ask Pixar if it is possible to give me a little more. If not, I would most likely go with Pixar away. Anyway, if you guys can give me any advice on that, that would be great.

Anyway that is it for now. I will try to keep you guys posted as much as I can. I know I haven't been posting much, but now after getting to the swing of things, I feel a lot happier.

pixar, awesome, jobs
