introductory post!
hello everyone! since I've actually started to make some friends in this fandom, I've decided to make a solid FAQ/about me post to let y'all know get to know me a little better.
everything is under the cut because it's picture-heavy =).
my name is rachel, but I'll answer to just about anything. this is my face:
I live in Johnson City, TN, which is a relatively small town in the northeast part of the state. I'm six months shy of 21 years old, and I'm not sure where I'm going in life. I work 35 hours a week and take online classes for the local university, which doesn't allow me much spare time.
Piercings freak me out, but I have two tattoos:
The treble clef is mine, the bass clef is my best friend's. I got inked in July of 2009, and he got his corresponding tattoo on his 18th birthday in October of that same year. more on him in a minute.
my other tattoo is on my right ankle, and it's the cover art for 'The Missing Piece and the Big O' by Shel Silverstein. I got it done a couple of months ago (it's bloody and scary because the picture was taken right after I got it done):
now, about my best friend. his name is nic, and he's pretty much the best ever. he looks like this:
except that right now his hair is short on the sides and long on the top (kind of like a mohawk, but not really) and it's dark teal on the top part. he's the most amazing person: talented, hilarious, supportive and just generally the best guy I know.

this was taken during a Skype conversation a few months ago (since he lives in Kentucky for most of the year). he gave me the polar bear I'm holding for my birthday when I was 17, I think? it was a few years back. I gave him his bear a few months after that. his bear is missing its nose because his puppy chewed it off. bastard.
all of my friends are really amazing, though. here's a picture of us at a multi-fandom convention in February of this year:
well, that's most of us. anyway, I can say with confidence that I have the most amazing friends on the planet. I mean, look at those cute-ass mofos.
Other than writing fanfiction, I doodle and paint a lot. like this sketch for a painting I'm working on:
I write poetry more than prose, and most of the titles for my fics are gonna come from poems I love. actually, my URL (and the title and tagline of my LJ) come from one of my all time favorite poems: Snow and Dirty Rain by Richard Siken.
