Quick readings on phenomenology

Jul 12, 2009 00:38

A friend of mine is asking for some help understanding phenomenology. I've done some quick looking around, but I'd like to know if there are any quick and readily available reads on the topic that aren't Wikipedia-quick and available but aren't like entire books unto themselves. Any recommended essays/readings?

I would suggest getting some kind of theory anthology which includes excerpts from various theorists rather than their complete and in-depth writings. There might be ones that focus on phenomenology and/or the theorists who explore this concept. Per my suggestion, an anthology that would include: Husserl (clearly), Hegel's "Phenomenology of Spirit," Heidegger, and Derrida. It might take some digging, but I'm sure something will come up. Good luck.
