My week's been so first rate I feel downright radiant with my happiness. I'm sure I look something closer to haggard with the amount of sleep I got last night and the beginnings of a cold but radiant! On the inside. Life just.
LIFE ROCKS.
10 things that blew my week's hair back:
1) Sister sunshine.
Or rather my sister and the sunshine which I'm putting together even though she's actually grouchy and snappish and mocking and says 'I really hate you' more times to me in a day than I can count. Her disposition - really not so much with the sunshine. (Before you even say anything Gill - YOUR MOM.)
It's been gorgeous this week and everyday after I picked her up from school, we drove to the park to listen to music and have picnics and stimulating conversations. Some choice moments include the whole That Gross Venom Stuff In Spidey Was Leftovers From Your Mama's Douche And You Should Tell Her To Dispose Of Her Funk Better and the subsequent week long, ever heightening plateau of ridiculous your mom comments that never fail to send us over the edge laughing, the debate about the weird surveillance looking white van and whether or not the random dude minding his own business on the park bench was creepy, and the puzzle over the dire warning expiration time stickers on the McDonalds' apple pies (Are they radioactive? Will they turn back into the sludge they truly are after reaching a certain time?).
See? Stimulating.
The best (ie sad) part is that we never actually made it out of the car because it was too hot. Also we are lazy. I should have some shame but instead I laugh and laugh. Maybe today will be the day we venture out.
Despite our total wimp reaction to the heat (I don't think it's even been 80 yet), I really have been in love with the sun - with what the sun does to where I live. The water's looked so blue, the mountains have been so clear and easy to see, everything so green and really - IT'S STUNNING. I'm fortunate.
A couple of songs from our sunshine park soundtrack -
Let's Stay Together - Al Green - I think I've subjected my sister to this at least 15 times this week alone. I'm pretty stuck on it but really - it only gets better the more times you listen to it. Like magic!
Dashboard - Modest Mouse - I have a feeling this will be my song of the summer. It's addictive. Soaring Johnny Mar guitars, Isaac's crazy vocals, 'Well it would have been, could have been worse than you would ever know' - what more could you want in a song?
Sunshowers - M.I.A. - This one's a lie because I don't think I've made my sister listen to it much but it's definitely been on repeat when I'm driving by myself. 'The sunshowers that fall on my troubles'. *contented sigh*
2) We had High-Def installed last weekend. The first thing we tried it out on? Heroes. I didn't think that it was going to make much of a difference but PETER. IN. HD. So clear and crisp. Mmmmmm. Doing it for me!
3) I'm reading
Falling Upwards which again - is
ETHROSDEMON's new book and you all need to buy it! It's wonderful and reminds me of a lot of things I've forgotten about my own imagination. Basically, it leaves me walking around in a Kassie love daze. Not a bad place to be at all.
4) HOUSE. That's all that needs to be said. It's making me flail on a level approaching Smallville. This week's episode! The coffee shenanigans ♥ ♥ ♥
5)
These parody type things of the PC/Mac commercials of YAYE switched to DC/Marvel. Genius! Especially
the one with Batman. ('Wouldn't know anything about that. Continue.') BRUCE WINS ALL.
6)
isilweth and I went to see Spiderman 3 at the Imax and not only was she once again the best kind of company (We had milkshakes at Dick's which is one of the greatest places to eat by virtue of it's name alone - DIIIICK!! Combine that with talk about comics and Smallville and you get GOOD TIMES), but they showed The Order of the Phoenix trailer which will be playing there. IN 3D. ! ! ! ! ! ! Naturally, I'll be seeing it at least a billion times.
7) Smallville fandom. There's been multiple posts about Clark and oral sex of the female variety and I APPROVE MIGHTILY. I don't even need a specific reason though - JUST BECAUSE. Smallville fandom - you thrill me ♥
8) Michael Rosenbaum. That he exists to constantly amuse and give me things like
his comments at the Jules Verne Festival in which he defends Lex and says he likes to pull Tom's hair (the entire thing and not on crappy YouTube!),
his appearance on Craig Ferguson in which he talks about super packages, and his
appearance on Carson Daily in which he sings and is very juvenile and is delighted by fingering Erica's picture. I LOVE HIM.
9)
Supernatural 2.21 'All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 1':
First, OH MY GOD.
Second, OH MY GOD ! ! ! ! !
- This was exactly the kind of ANGST and emotional porn I've been wanting back for weeks.
Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaam. OH MY GOD. The way Dean was holding him and crying and OH. MY. GOD.
My sister was crying. I could have easily been crying if I had been alone. Jesus but this show can really kill me sometimes.
- I'M SO BUMMED OUT THAT THEY KILLED ASH. He said 'Negatory'. He was beyond awesome. I grieve!!
- And Andy too?!! He was telegraphing gay porn!! You keep characters like that!
Whyyyyyyyy? *weeps*
I do get why but OH I GRIEVE.
- The demon girl creeped me the hell out. That's rare for them to succeed that way with me. *pats them all on the back*
- The mom recognized the demon. OH MY GOD.
That's really all I got for the entire thing - one huge OH MY GOD.
10)
Smallville 2.21 'Prototype':
I think it's clear that I'm not too picky when it comes to Smallville but THEY ARE ON A DAMN ROLL. You can't deny it. You can try but you will fail. Spectacularly. Fall right on your face kind of fail.
Last night's episode was a fucking JOY for me from beginning to end.
- They mentioned Ollie again. And Alicia! They mentioned Alicia!! Yaye, Smallville, yaye!
- Martha was using Jonathon's mug! I thought she was going to hand it to Clark but nope. For all I know she's been using it ever since he died but this was the first time I noticed it and warm fuzzies! That's what it gives me.
Also Mrs. Kent goes to Washington!! I'm sad that this presumably means that Annette won't be around much anymore but it's so awesome it's entirely worth it. We'll never see it but how great will it be when Martha is on the senate and Lex is president?! She will be Senator that long. She has to because did I mention how AWESOME it would be?
- Lois. There was a period where she was driving me insane and I didn't care for her much but I can barely remember it now. All my adoration is blocking it out and making my memory fuzzy. She's so warm (her determination to help Wes and comfort Chloe!) and I love the energy she brings - the quirk and humor that's so different from everything else on the show. The story of her first kiss - of course there was alcohol and bonked heads involved! The way she rolls her eyes at Clark when he tells her to do things!
I'm so, so pleased that they gave Lois a legitimate reason for her vendetta against Lex. Not that Lex wasn't down with the shady dealings and deserving of her mistrust from before, but her sudden 'insight' into it was grating and did nothing but make me want to shout at her and shut her up and wish for it to be Chloe or Clark saying what she was saying. Now though - 'Don't be sorry for me. Be sorry for Lex.' - I WHOOPED.
My affection for Lois has been growing and growing but it was noticeably strong last night. You see I watched Superman Returns earlier this week and the amount of terrific our Lois has on SR's can't be measured. Erica knocks boring about-as-much-charisma-as-a-dead-fish Bosworth so far out of the water she is but a speck on the horizon.
- Speaking of people and things that used to drive me insane - how exactly has Clana become the most exciting thing on the show and Lana one of the most interesting characters to watch?! I'm freaking living for the scenes involving both of them.
Luthor!Lana is so hot I found myself looking away from Lex and Clark in order to drool over her. Away from Clark and Lex. That's HOTNESS right there. Watching her lie right to Lex's face and get him to believe her continues to be top notch entertainment. 'I would never hurt the man I love.' YESSSSSSSSS.
I thought for sure she was putting a bug on that flower arrangement but her skulking as Lex hilariously said, to listen and then lying her way out of it was pretty darn close to as brilliant.
The look on her face when she tells Clark that she knows what's going on with Lex - that she's not just some innocent little oblivious pawn . . . I lust after her something FIERCE.
Which brings us to the Clana. Or rather Clexana. The three of them are too tangled to handle separately by now.
Hmmm that must be the secret of why it's so sexy now huh? Lex may have failed to keep the sex appeal up in the Lexana thing but even in failure he rubbed off enough on them to have Clark walking around wiping his mouth and sexual tension so exquisite I'm left begging for them to ravish each other and end my pain.
Just GOD DAMN.
Clark came in when Lex was trying to set the mood! I SCREAM IN DELIGHT!!!!
Then he used his powers right in front of her!! I could drop to the floor and roll around hugging myself.
Somebody should write fic where Clark keeps zipping in to bone Lana random times during the day - when Lex is brushing his teeth, when Lana goes into the kitchen to make toast or out to the garden - and Lex keeps finding Lana all flustered and flushed and her hair messed up and maybe he thinks that Lana is seriously ill or losing her mind because of it. That'd be hilarious and hot.
The cherry in the Clexana scene was the way Clark touched her face -
(His hand! IT IS HUGE.) And then Lex kissed the exact spot where Clark's hand had been.
I did a terrible job of capturing it but Lex makes a face. An acknowledging, questioning face like he can taste Clark there or feel the heat left from his hand.
GOD, GOD, GOD, GOD.
GOD!
Everything going on in the Luthor mansion - Lex's evil, Lana's lies, Clark in the middle - PERFECTION.
Look it how goth!
- I always love Clark so it's not like last night was going to be an exception.
The Clark highlight was without doubt his conversation with Lionel. 'If I find out that you had anything to do with Lana marrying Lex, the gloves will come off. How do you like that option?'
I LOVE IT SO MUCH I'LL BETRAY MY FAMILY AND ALL MY TRADITIONS AND HERITAGE SO THAT I CAN MARRY IT AND THEN WHEN I FIND OUT THAT THE IDEA HASN'T BEEN CARRIED THROUGH I'LL STAB MYSELF IN THE HEART AND LAY ON TOP OF IT'S CORPSE SO I CAN BE WITH IT ALWAYS.
Something like that.
I likewise loved his digs about honesty because really Clark? He is too funny.
His first instinct is still to rush in and pointlessly question Lex and he has to have Chloe persuade him otherwise. Most compelling dumbasses ever is what we have ♥
Oh and the heat vision! Were the effects different? They seemed different. CLARK IS SO HOT HE MAKES HEAT MELT is what it seemed like.
- Lastly, Lex. He was on fire! This is the Lex I want more of. More, more, more. Keep on giving me this Lex until I've completely gluttoned myself out and can't move.
From the first second he showed up he was awesome - 'Get some fresh guards I want to do it again.' BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Talking about being humanity's only chance and saving the world while he casually throws lives out and plots murder. COMICS!LEX, IS THAT YOU?!!
'That would be ill advised.' and making me believe that it's true and that you don't want to cross Lex whatever you do = SEXASS.
His confident response to the Senator's (who was also fantastic and it's too bad he won't be sticking around for a while longer - he rocked his scenes) apology for interrupting a tender moment - 'If you had, you'd still be waiting outside.' We know he's not getting any action from Lana but STUD. That's what he is.
He's making himself an entire army of boy toys.
I'm crazy about Michael's delivery of 'You're not a cat, Lana.' because is that line genius? Is it retarded? With Smallville who can tell? The boundary is blurred. Michael made it YAYE.
And! 'I'm already working on procuring a replacement' supply of alien dna. I shouldn't get my hopes up. I really, really shouldn't. But if he's talking about Clark . . . I WILL LOSE MY MIND.
Permanently.
To wrap this endless fangirl mess up, these shots of the Daily Planet and Luthorcorp -
GET ME PUMPED. I'm not sure if they're new but they look new to me. I forgot how close the Planet and Luthorcorp are.
CLARK AND LEX ARE NEVER GETTING AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.
Lucky us.
My sister Bill is coming home from college tomorrow night so I don't know how much I'll be around in the next few weeks. She's only going to be here for a short time before she goes to San Francisco and her mom's and then off to Europe for the next school year. If I disappear, that's why.
