thigh tattoo (crossposted to ihearttattoos)

I just got this done yesterday afternoon. It is on the outside of my right thigh. It took about three hours, but luckily I didn't really start to feel until it until the third hour as he got more into the color. I will definitely use my other thigh for ink, considering how well this one went.

I majored in history, and focused on medieval/early modern English royalty, so this is all about that for me. The quote is from my favourite monologue, from Act III Scene II of Shakespeare's Richard II.

it fits into the longer text like:

...
For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison'd by their wives: some sleeping kill'd;
All murder'd: for within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king
Keeps Death his court
...

The image itself is from the heraldic badge of the Tudor family, a crowned rose. It isn't the traditional red/white/yellow rose, but that's just a stylistic choice on the part of the artist, who took what information I gave him and designed this. I am in love with it. It's my fifth tattoo, but all my other ones seriously pale in comparison to this.

A couple crappy pictures to just give an idea of the placement and size:

Artist is Ian Preeper, currently at Three Thirty Main Fine Electric Tattooing in Nova Scotia.
