I remember the first time I learned about "natural resources." It was in middle school, I believe - it's pretty hazy. Anyway, they taught us that petroleum came from decayed matter over thousands to millions of years ago. They also taught us that it was non-renewable, but I had no idea how much that would affect me later in life
