If I don't have you to hold on to...

Quick! Flist!

I need to load up my Kobo for winter break -- dragging books down to the coast and back is rather unwieldy --  and I could use some nudges in the direction of good reads. All the different 'what should I read next' sites are not being helpful, as they keep directing me to stuff I've already read, or books I know I have no interest in.

You can download fics from AO3 into PDF or EPUB so you can read them on your Kobo without being on the interwebs?! YES YOU CAN.

Anything by Scott Westerfeld, but DEFINITELY his Uglies series and his Leviathan series! :D Also, The Woman in White by Wilie Collins which you can get for free because it is oooold!

I've read Westerfield (The Uglies books are amazing!), and I'm really one of those people who ought to have read 'The Woman In White' by now.

Noted, and appreciated!

Yeeeaaaah fellow Uglies faaan!

And you will not regret 'Woman in White'. Please read it so I can have a tiny teeny two person fandom. ;-;

Other suggestion... 'The Alchemist' by Paolo Coehlo which is like a modern fairytale and just very beautiful and a quick read. :)

Oooooh. "The Alchemist" is one I've been peering at for a while. Care to elaborate a little on it for me?

Also, YOUR ICON PLEASES ME.

Some of my fave books:
Kushiel's Dart - Jacqueline Carey
Bridge of Birds - Barry Hughart
War for the Oaks - Emma Bull
Devoted - Alice Borchadt (or The Silver Wolf - it's a tossup)
Stardance - Spider and Jeanne Robinson
On Basilisk Station - David Weber
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
Butterfly and Hellflower - Eluki Bes Shahar

Much obliged! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go do some investigative reading. Hmmm...

"Daughter of Smoke and Bone" was fantastic! "Days of Blood and Starlight" had a touch of second act syndrome, but was still quite good.

And how much did I love "Anna Dressed In Blood"? SO. VERY. MUCH.
(The sequel was all kinds of disappointing. But my GOD did I love ADIB.)

Thanks for the recs! Trotting off to take a look now...
