Chapter 259: Talk To Me
Oki: She finally fell asleep.
Crispin: Good.
Oki: She’s so sweet, don’t you think?
Crispin: Yes.
Oki: Are you okay? You seem so quiet.
Crispin: I’m fine…really.
Oki: No you aren’t. Tell me what’s wrong.
Crispin: Really, it’s nothing.
Oki: You don’t like Penelope, do you?
Crispin: No! I like her just fine…I do.
Oki: Then what is it?
*Crispin does not answer*
Oki: Crispin, please talk to me! I can’t stand it when you don’t tell me what’s on your mind.
Crispin: It’s just…are you sure you know what you are getting into. Taking care of a child…it’s not like one of your animals.
Oki: I know what I’m doing. And it’s the right thing to do. I couldn’t turn my back on her when Paige and Melodie asked me to help.
Oki: Please try to understand.
Crispin: It is just what you would do. You just…have the tendency…to jump into things without thinking.
Oki: I did think. It just doesn’t take me long to decide what to do.
Crispin: But you didn’t ask me what I think.
Oki: Oh…
Crispin: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to imply that you had to ask me.
Oki: No, I should have. I’m the one who is sorry.
Crispin: Listen, one reason I love you so much is that you want to do the right thing. I’m not going to try and talk you out of it.
Oki: And you always support me, that’s one reason I love you…and I need your support right now, Crispin!
Crispin: I’ll do what I can. I just don’t know much about children.
Oki: I can help you with that…you got used to all my animals.
Crispin: *smiles* Yes, I did…but this changes everything…doesn’t it?
Oki: Yes…I guess it does.
Oki: I need to put her to bed.
Crispin: You go on; I’ll gather up the animals and bring them for you.
Oki: Thank you.
*Oki is worried*
*Crispin is worried, too*
