Chapter 350: Bonding
*Kiki and Sebastian are taking a walk*
Kiki: You are really quiet…is something still bothering you?
Sebastian: I am only thinking…and reconsidering…
Kiki: Reconsidering what?
Sebastian: Perhaps you are correct; I should just tell you why I am being very slow in our relationship. I am attempting to protect you; however it may be better if you know.
Kiki: What is there to protect me from?
Sebastian: There is no danger, it just may upset you.
Kiki: Well, of course I want to know. Maybe you should just tell me so we can figure out how to deal with…whatever it is…together.
Sebastian: This may take some time to explain.
Kiki: I have all the time in the world.
Sebastian: Then, why don’t we sit down and I will try.
Sebastian: In order for you and I to be together I would like for us to participate in what is called a Bonding Ceremony. Essentially, it is a marriage but with a magical bonding spell. Our lives would be magically entwined; it is a bond that cannot be broken.
Kiki: *smiles* So far this doesn’t sound so bad…in fact, it sounds rather romantic.
Sebastian: My people are a romantic lot, it is our way.
Kiki: Why am I not surprised?
Sebastian: The difficulty for us is the magical bonding. If we were both immortal then it would not be an issue.
Kiki: I can’t bond with you because you are immortal and I’m not?
Sebastian: No, because I have a magical gift I may bond with whoever I wish. The bonding is so entwining that one cannot live without the other for long, but no magic spell can bestow immortal life. Your life would be significantly lengthened, but mine would be shortened.
Kiki: Whoa…wait a minute. Are you saying if I bond with you…you won’t be immortal anymore?
Sebastian: That is correct. The bond is powerful and meant to be everlasting for just the two people who are bonded. If one person dies the other will not live for long after, that way they can move onto the next life together.
Kiki: *shakes her head* There is no way I can ask you to give up your life for me! No way!
Sebastian: This is how I was afraid you would react. I already told you I love you more then life itself, I meant it. Do you think I want to linger on in this life alone…forever…once you are gone?
Kiki: I always just assumed that once I was gone, as you put it, you would just find someone else so you wouldn’t be alone. That wouldn’t bother me.
Sebastian: I do not think I would be able to move on and be truly happy.
Kiki: Is this bonding the only way we can be together?
Sebastian: I have always aspired to be bonded.
Kiki: Right…that makes sense…I don’t want to ruin your aspirations. But I don’t want you to sacrifice your life for me. I would feel so bad, so guilty.
Sebastian: This is why I hesitated to explain this to you. I knew it would be difficult for you to bear and I did not want to cause you pain. But this is not something you are forcing me to do, I would do it willingly…for you.
Kiki: Oh, Sebastian. If I had known before what I was asking by wanting to be with you permanently I would have never asked for it. I’m so sorry!
Sebastian: Please do not apologize, my love. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be together and it is something I want as much as you do. The last thing I want is to make you feel sad and guilty, that is why I did not tell you all of this sooner.
Kiki: I want to be with you, more then anything. But this bonding…I’m not sure I can do it.
Sebastian: There is no rush. Now that you know, we can figure out how to proceed together.
Kiki: *distressed* I don’t know what to do!
Sebastian: It is alright. We should give it some time, perhaps then a solution will present itself. Until then just remember if you change your mind I will bond with you whenever you want.
Kiki: Oh, Sebastian! *sobs*
Sebastian: Do not cry…it will all be alright…we are still together…we should be happy.
*They hold each other tightly*

Okay, here's the deal with this chapter...I was going to wait to reveal this information, but given other events that are going to be happening in the story starting with the next chapter it made more sense to do it now rather then later. It will make more sense when you see where I'm going with this. So, Sebastian was hesitant to tell Kiki this information because he knew she would feel guilty and have doubts. And he was right, she doesn't want to be the end of him and now she's not in the hurry like she was before. However, in the end it's probably better that he told her instead of leaving her wondering what was going on. Of course, there is more to this part of the story which I'll get to later. :D
Also, if it's confusing, please just ask and I'll do my best to explain.
So...next chapter some new things are going to happen, but I'm not going to be posting that chapter until next Monday. I need a little extra time to work out a few things. But, I'm still going to have "House of Pullip" story related things I will be posting on my journal between now and then. You'll see what I mean in tomorrow's post. ;) It will all make sense why I'm doing it this way when I post the next chapter on Monday...
