Chapter 441: Normality
Ivy: Thank you for dinner, it was delicious.
Gideon: No problem, that’s my favorite restaurant. I’m glad you liked it.
Ivy: I feel bad but there’s something you should know…
Gideon: What?
Ivy: I’ve never heard of you…I don’t know anything about your singing career. Sorry…
Gideon: *laughs* Good, I prefer it that way.
Ivy: Why?
Gideon: I like singing; I don’t necessarily like being known.
Gideon: This way we can just get to know each other like two normal people. If you knew me already then you might have unrealistic expectations that I can’t live up to. I’m really not that special.
Ivy: You’re nice. That’s special enough.
Gideon: Yeah, but people who know me from my singing first usually expect more. I always feel like I disappoint them so it’s better this way.
Ivy: *teases* I feel like I should go home and Google you so I can find out all your juicy dirt.
Gideon: *laughs* I’m afraid you wouldn’t find much.
Ivy: Oh…too bad.
Gideon: Sorry to be such a disappointment.
Ivy: Seriously though, that’s good you keep out of trouble…that you don’t seem to let all of this go to your head.
Gideon: I known I’ve been blessed. I don’t want to waste it by making dumb mistakes.
Ivy: Very wise.
Gideon: Well, here we are.
Ivy: Thanks again for dinner and for walking me home.
Gideon: My pleasure…in fact…um…
Ivy: Yes?
Gideon: I’d like to take you out again…if you like.
Ivy: Oh…Gideon…that’s really nice but…I’m sorry, I don’t think I’m quite ready for this.
Gideon: Er…did I do something wrong?
Ivy: Oh, no…no, you didn’t do anything! It’s just me and my…issues.
Gideon: Issues?
Ivy: I’d rather not talk about it…but dating isn’t really my favorite thing to do right now. I can’t really handle the pressure of it.
Gideon: I didn’t mean to pressure you.
Ivy: You didn’t! Gideon, you’re really nice…this really has nothing to do with you.
Gideon: I understand…I think. But I’m sorry you don’t want to go out again, I had a good time.
Ivy: So did I.
Gideon: Would it be okay if I stopped by to see you every now and then…you know, when I come by to see Felix for work.
Ivy: Yes, that would be nice.
Gideon: I still wouldn’t mind getting to know you better.
Ivy: As friends.
Gideon: Of course.
