Chapter 40:
*Madison helped Alex clean up after the party and now they are spending some quality time together*
Alex: Madison, where did you find my necklace?
Madison: Oh…at the party, I was looking for you. I couldn’t find you at first but I found the necklace. Why did you leave it lying there?
Alex: *sigh* I’m sorry…I was trying to give you up. I thought leaving the necklace behind would help since it only reminded me of you and how much I missed you.
Madison: Oh Alex, I’m so sorry.
Alex: Forget it. I didn’t do a very good job of giving you up anyway.
*They laugh*
Alex: Um…can I have the necklace back?
Madison: Actually, I think I should keep it…it reminds me of you now.
Alex: Oh, okay. *tries not to sound as disappointed as he is*
Madison: But I have something else I want to give you. Stay here and I’ll go get it…
*Madison runs off*
Alex: *thinks to himself* I really must be dreaming… *smiles*
Elsewhere…
*They have been out walking together*
Annike: Thanks for taking a walk with me, Jonas. I feel better now.
Jonas: No problem, I’m just glad I could help.
*Grace approaches, walking her dog*
Jonas: Grace, hi!
Grace: Oh, Jonas, it’s nice to see you. *smiles*
Jonas: Annike, this is Grace…I was telling you about her at the party.
Annike: *tries to mask her slight irritation* Yes, I remember… *to Grace* Nice to meet you, I’m Annike.
Grace: Hello, it’s nice to meet you, too.
*awkward silence*
*Lucas enters*
Lucas: Nika, there you are! Come on, I think we should talk.
Annike: *very irritated* Now?
Lucas: Yes, now! I’m sure your “boyfriend” won’t mind, right man?
Jonas: *terribly embarrassed* Um…I don’t mind, uh…but only if Annike doesn’t.
Annike: I’m okay, Jonas, thank you though. *sigh* Alright, Lucas, let’s go talk. *eye roll*
*Annike leaves with Lucas*
Grace: What was that all about?
Jonas: It’s a long story… *shakes head* ...And I don’t know a lot of it, I’m sure. Um…I saw you at the party, why didn’t you come talk to me?
Grace: Oh…well…you seemed to have enough company, I didn’t want to intrude.
Jonas: Yeah, I guess you’re right…still, I wouldn’t have minded.
Grace: I’ll remember that next time.
Jonas: My walk was cut short, do you mind if I walk with you?
Grace: Are you sure?
Jonas: *shrugs shoulders* Sure, why not?
Grace: Okay…let’s go!
*They walk on together*
Meanwhile…
*Madison has returned to Alex*
Madison: Here, I have a new necklace for you. It’s called a Star Drop. In my kingdom we give them to people we care about.
Alex: Wow…thanks! It’s great!
*Alex puts the necklace on immediately*
Madison: It looks good on you.
Alex: It matches your necklace, I like that.
Alex: I’ll always wear it.
Madison: *smile*
Voice from offscreen: Unhand her you....you…heathen!
*Madison and Alex turn to see an angry Ronan*
Alex: Huh?
Madison: Oh no…
