Chapter 51:
*Jonas has persuaded Grace to pose for him so he can make a new drawing*
Grace: Am I staying still enough?
Jonas: You’re doing great. I won’t make you sit there for too much longer… *sketches intently*
Grace: Jonas?
Jonas: Yes?
Grace: I…I really enjoyed our date the other night.
Jonas: *smile* Yeah, so did I. Thanks for going with me.
Jonas: Okay…I think I’ve made you sit there long enough, you can move now.
Grace: You’re done already?
Jonas: No, but I can finish later. I think I can get the rest done without having to make you pose.
Grace: Oh…but if you want to sit for you again, I will…any time.
Jonas: *smile* Thanks.
*They sit next to each shyly*
*Jonas is debating whether or not to try and hold Grace’s hand*
Grace: Jonas? Um…there’s something I really need to tell you.
Jonas: *suddenly uneasy* Okay…what is it?
Grace: Well…you should know that I…I’m a widow.
Jonas: You were married?
Grace: Yes.
Jonas: …
Grace: Are you okay? Maybe I should have told you sooner…
Jonas: No…really, I’m fine. I’m glad you told me. It helps me to know you better.
Grace: If you don’t want to…you know…be around me anymore, then I understand.
Jonas: What? Grace! Of course I want to be around you! How…how can you say that?
Grace: You’d be surprised. Some people get strange around me after I tell them…and then avoid me.
Jonas: I won’t get strange. If you don’t mind me asking…what happened?
Grace: He died of a sudden and unexpected heart attack.
Jonas: I’m so sorry.
Grace: It’s okay now…please don’t be sorry. I’m just relieved I didn’t upset you.
Jonas: Thank you for telling me. And you know…you can talk to me about anything. I mean it…anything.
Grace: *smile* Thank you, Jonas, that means a lot to me.
*Jonas finally holds her hand, she does not take it away*
Jonas: Will you go out with me again?
Grace: Yes, I’d love to.

FYI--Yes, Jonas and Grace already went out on their first date, I didn't want to make a story out of that because I'm not good at writing about dates unless something specific is going on. Anyway, they enjoyed it. Grace specifically waited until after their date to tell Jonas about being a widow because she was honestly afraid Jonas would not want to see her again if he knew...she wanted at least one nice date before it ended. Obviously, Jonas does not want to end it...Grace is relieved and thrilled!
