My husband took off with the camera all day, but I finally got it back so I could make this new chapter of "House of Pullip". This is really more of a character study so not much is going on, but it was great practice for me to make attempts at writing characters (I worked hard on it). Sorry the photos don't vary much, but to my credit they are all different. Enjoy reading!
Chapter 69:
*Sebastian has just succeeded in turning a caterpillar back into her true form only to find out that the girl which appeared, Melodie, is known by Paige*
Paige: Melodie? Is that really you?
Melodie: It’s me, Paige! I knew you would figure it out and find a way to turn me back! You did it so fast, too…
Paige: Fast? You’ve been here for months and I only just figured it out. And I can only guess how long you were a caterpillar before Sebastian found you.
Melodie: Still, I expected it to take much longer.
Paige: You always were more patient than me.
*Melodie and Paige embrace*
Sebastian: This is very obvious, I know, but you know her?
Paige: Oh…Sebastian…yes. This is my older sister, Melodie.
Melodie: Well, half-sisters…
Paige: You know that never mattered to me.
Sebastian: It is a pleasure to meet you, miss.
Melodie: Such a polite man. Paige, he’s a keeper, I think.
Paige: *blush*
Melodie: Thank you for finding me, Sebastian, and talking to me. It helped me to remember who I was…I was beginning to forget. And when I heard you talk about Paige I knew I had to find a way to convince you to take me to her. Of course, the spell on me prevented me from telling anyone about it. Once I was here with you, Paige, I felt so much peace…it didn’t matter how long it took before you figured it out, I was just happy to be with you.
Paige: *sniff* I’ve missed you so much…
Melodie: Oh, Paige, none of that! We’re together now, that’s all that matters.
Paige: I want to know who did this and why?
Melodie: Well…
Paige: Wait…mother!
Melodie: Now Paige, please don’t get upset…
Sebastian: Your mother turned you into a caterpillar? *scandalized*
Melodie: Well, she fused me with a caterpillar, yes. *holds up the caterpillar that is now free from her presence*
Sebastian: But…why would your own mother do such a thing?
Melodie: It’s a long story…
Paige: It is not a long story, Sebastian; it’s very easy to explain. Our mother is crazy!
Melodie: Paige, please…she’s not crazy, she was only trying to help me.
Paige: Melodie, how many times do I have to tell you-her kind of “help” is not…helpful.
Melodie: She thought I would be happier as a caterpillar, that’s all.
*Paige fumes, Sebastian takes advantage of her angry silence to find out more*
Sebastian: Why?
Melodie: Because I’m a very pathetic fairy.
Paige: Melodie, that’s not true…that’s only mother talking!
Melodie: *ignores Paige and continues to answer Sebastian’s question* My mother got tired of trying to teach me fairy magic and figured I’d be happier with the simple life of a caterpillar. I believe her exact words were, “a simple life for a simple mind.”
Paige: She said that? I’m going to-
Melodie: No, Paige…just let it go.
Paige: Just promise me you won’t go back to her. I’m sorry I left you with her for such a long time, but you know I couldn’t handle it. I wish you had come with me then!
Melodie: I don’t know…
Sebastian: If you go back, it only stands to reason that your mother would probably turn you into a caterpillar, or something else, again. It would be unlikely that we would be able to find you a second time to help you.
Melodie: But if it’s for my own good…
Paige: Melodie, you need to stop listening to mother’s nonsense, it’s not for your own good. Please…stay with me!
Melodie: Okay…I’ll stay. I've really missed you!
Sebastian: I still don’t understand how your mother could do that...
Paige: Our mother is just the type of fairy you despise the most, Sebastian. She uses flawed logic and rarely thinks before she acts. Coupled with the tendency to never admit she made a mistake and it makes a very silly combination…you can see why I left.
Sebastian: Well, I will just be thankful then that you did not appear to inherit these tendencies.
Paige: *finally laughs*
To be continued...
Along with Pullips, a major hobby of mine is writing. I actually use my dolls a lot to practice character development. While I don't use any of my Pullip characters in any of my other stories besides this one, they all have very extensive backgrounds and details that are only rolling around in my head but don't often come out in the story. In this case, I've had the idea for Paige's mother and what she is like ever since I got Paige and developed her character as a half-fairy. When Melodie showed up and I decided to make her Paige's half-sister, some of this background is bound to come out. I hope it's not too confusing, but this chapter is really all I needed to share, there's not any more that's crucial to the story. However, I needed to share it so that what happens next makes more sense...thanks for reading if you are still with me at this point :P
