umbrella.
Jaejoong was torn between jumping for joy or pinching himself, but instead of doing either option he just stared at Yunho with a blank expression on his face. He tried to will himself to just do something, but his body refused to cooperate with him.
“No way.”
Yunho’s eyes widened in shock, and Jaejoong stared at him with an equal amount of surprise.
“I’ll just go -“ Yunho said hastily as he backed away and began to make his way for the classroom door, “I’m sorry Jaejoong, I didn’t -“
“No! Wait!” Jaejoong bit his lip and reached out to pull Yunho back, “No, wait, I’m sorry. It’s not every day that someone confesses to me, and the fact that you confessed to me makes things a lot more difficult to process -“
“I should just go then -“
“Wait! Would you shut up?” Jaejoong protested, “I’m trying to think about how I’m going to say that I like you too!”
They both stopped talking and stared at each other, and Jaejoong’s face burned with embarrassment. “I…I like you.” He stuttered, “I like you as much as I like….other things, like elephants, spicy food, and…umbrellas?”
Yunho stared at Jaejoong.
“I hope you like those things a lot,” Yunho murmured as he took a step closer to Jaejoong’s nervous figure, “Or else I’m going to look like a complete idiot for doing this.” He closed the distance between them and pressed his lips against Jaejoong’s hesitantly.
When he pulled away, Jaejoong bit his lip.
“Just so you know, I like you better than all of those things.”
Yunho blushed, and Jaejoong smiled. He swallowed hard, and they stared at each other for a few awkward seconds before Yunho spoke up.
“Tomorrow…at six? We’ll meet at the park?”
Jaejoong nodded, “Okay, sure.” He bit his lip, and they stared at each other once again. He blushed harder and sighed in frustration, “Why is this so awkward?”
“Uh, I don’t know -“
Beofre Yunho could say another word, Jaejoong pressed their lips together once more. His eyes fluttered shut, and he savored the feeling of his lips against Yunho’s slightly chapped ones before he pulled away and smiled.
“This will take some getting used to,” Jaejoong said softly as he intertwined his fingers with Yunho’s, “But it’s a nice change, isn’t it?”
Yunho nodded, “Very nice.”
“You just like the kissing, don’t you?” Jaejoong questioned playfully as he led Yunho out of the classroom. He turned his head and looked at Yunho, “Well?”
Yunho slipped his hand out of Jaejoong’s and placed his arm around Jaejoong’s shoulders as they walked through the school corridors. He looked down at him and smiled, “Of course I like it. I’ve been thinking about kissing you for months.”
Jaejoong blushed and leaned against Yunho, “Me too.”
o-o-o
He was soaking wet, and he was late.
Yunho cursed his poor luck and brushed past people as he tried to make his way to where he and Jaejoong had planned to meet before their movie. He tried to hold his jacket over his head, but the downpour was much too strong and had already soaked through the fabric.
He looked around the park and tried to find Jaejoong, but the other boy was nowhere.
After ten more minutes of futile searching, Yunho stood still and despaired. It seemed like maybe Jaejoong had stood him up -
“You look terrible.”
Yunho looked up at the transparent umbrella that covered his head before he turned and looked at the umbrella’s owner, “Oh God, I’m so sorry.”
Jaejoong chuckled, “It’s okay.”
“I’m soaked.”
“I can tell,” Jaejoong said as he tugged at the damp fabric of Yunho’s shirt, “You were running pretty late you know.” Before Yunho could launch into his apology, he held his hand up and shook his head, “It’s okay.”
“This is not a good first date,” Yunho muttered, “I’m sorry.”
Jaejoong laughed and poked his cheek, “It’s okay, really. I haven’t been waiting long at all, and I’m happy you’re here -“
Yunho leaned down and pecked Jaejoong’s lips chastely. He pulled away with a huge smile and laughed softly, “This is really nice.”
“It’d be nicer if you were dry,” Jaejoong muttered lightly as he glanced down at his partially damp shirt. He raised his eyes and looked up at Yunho, “Are we going to continue this, or are you going to go home and change?”
“Can I go home and change? I don’t live that far.”
“You don’t live that far, yet you were late,” Jaejoong scrunched his nose in amusement and laughed at the pout on Yunho’s face, “I’m staying downstairs, just so you know. It’s only our first date after all.”
Yunho laughed, “Okay.”
Jaejoong smiled back at him charmingly and linked their hands together. Yunho glanced down at him when he felt Jaejoong press against him, “I’m wet, so your clothes -“
“There’s not enough space under the umbrella, and it’s more romantic if we do things this way,” Jaejoong argued as he clung tighter to Yunho, “Don’t argue.”
Yunho chuckled and pressed a kiss to Jaejoong’s forehead, “Okay, I won’t,” he replied as he led Jaejoong to his home, their hands comfortably linked together. He squeezed Jaejoong’s hand warmly and smiled to himself.
He was more than happy to know that his feelings hadn’t been so one-sided after all.
