The moment Jaejoong walked into his classroom, he had the eeriest feeling that everyone’s eyes were on him. He looked around the room and realized that everyone’s eyes were on him.

He looked down at his outfit and after making sure that everything was on right, slowly made his way to his usual seat. Jaejoong put his bag down, the sound of his bag echoing throughout the unusually quiet room.

Jiyong sauntered into the room and as soon as he caught sight of Jaejoong, he practically flew to his seat. He threw a newspaper down in front of the slightly older student and crossed his arms, “So…did you two have fun?”

“What?” Jaejoong asked confusedly, “I already told you -“

“I didn’t know you two held hands.” Jiyong teased, “Why don’t you go ahead and look at what’s on the table?”

“Is it one of those stupid -“

Jaejoong’s eyes widened.

Jung Yunho Spotted with New Fiancé

“Are they fucking kidding me?” Jaejoong spluttered. He glanced at Jiyong for an answer, but the younger man merely shrugged. “It was just one date! You said it was one date! How did I become his -“

“Why don’t you stop shouting?”

“But, I didn’t -“

“Come on Jaejoong, you can tell me the truth. How far did you and Yunho go last night?” A knowing smile crossed Jiyong’s face, “I mean, if you’re going to get married to him then I suspect that -“

Jaejoong got out of seat and grabbed his bag, “I am not getting married to anyone! I just met him last night -“

“He’s really rich though.” Jiyong said thoughtfully as he picked up the newspaper and flipped through the gossip and entertainment section. He looked up at Jaejoong and asked him seriously, “Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?”

“No, I am not marrying him!” Jaejoong snapped before he stormed out of the room. Everyone’s eyes followed him, and as soon as the door slammed shut, Jiyong looked at everyone in the room.

“Sorry about that. He’s just nervous.” Jiyong said with a shrug before he turned his attention to preparing his things for the class.

Jaejoong tried to make his way back to his apartment as quickly as possible. He needed a place to think about everything in peace, and he didn’t want anyone bothering him about his “engagement”.

Oh God, he hadn’t even known Yunho was really rich.

Jaejoong groaned mentally and skipped steps as he rushed to his room. He unlocked the door, and as soon as he walked in, he caught sight of several people seated on his messy and old couch.

“What?” he squeaked, taking note of the fact that his parents were seated next to a well-dressed couple.

His eyes wandered away, and he recognized Yunho standing by the window and looking out. Yunho turned, and Jaejoong’s eyes widened further before his attention was averted back to his parents.

“What’s going here?” he stammered, looking at all the older people warily, “Are you all going to explain what’s going on? I mean, engaged? Seriously? In what kind of world do we live in if -“

“Well Jaejoong,” his mom spoke up, “We were all discussing the matter, and the Jungs are accepting of you as a son in law and -“

“What!”

The man whom Jaejoong presumed to be Yunho’s father spoke up, and Jaejoong shut his mouth immediately, knowing the man was not someone to be interrupted or reckoned with.

“Despite the slight controversy, our family group believes that if Yunho married someone from a more…out of lack of a better word, modest upbringing, it would improve our family’s image as one that does not seclude itself from those who are not as wealthy and -“

“But what about me?” Jaejoong questioned. He looked at his parents, “Are you selling me off?”

“Your mother and I talked to Jiyong, and he said both of you got along well -“

“I’ve only known him for one night!” Jaejoong protested, “For all I know, Yunho could be into creepy, kinky things and -“ he stopped as soon as he’d realized what he’d just said, and his face heat up with embarrassment, “What…what I wanted to say is that Yunho and I don’t know each other that well.”

“Which is why I told my parents that the wedding should be postponed for some time in the future,” Yunho answered, his eyes flicking over to his parents before he turned them to Jaejoong, “I don’t want to marry a stranger.”

Silence fell after Yunho had stopped speaking, and after a few minutes of easy silence, Jaejoong finally spoke up again.

“Is there…” he trailed off and glanced at Yunho helplessly before he looked at his parents and Yunho’s parents in an imploring manner, “Is there really no way out of this situation?”

Mr. Jung stood up, and he shook his head, “No, there is no current way out of this. Your parents have agreed, and Yunho has given his consent. Unless Yunho finds you extremely displeasing, then you two will get married at some point in the future.”

He and his wife walked out of the room, with Yunho following behind. He tried to meet Jaejoong’s eyes, but Jaejoong turned his back away from him. As soon as the door shut, Jaejoong’s mother tried to speak, but he interrupted her.

“I don’t want to talk to either of you right now,” he hissed, “Get out.”

His parents left the room, and as soon as he was alone, Jaejoong ran to his room and buried himself in his bed, wishing that the whole engagement issue would just go away and he could live his life watching romantic movies and not being forced into unromantic engagements.

“You really suck,” Jaejoong hissed at Jiyong as they made their way out of the library. He slung his bag over his shoulder and nudged the shorter student roughly, “Why did you tell my parents that I liked Yunho?”

Jiyong rolled his eyes and waved Jaejoong off, “You’re acting as if you got married to a fifty year old man with a golden tooth, just calm down -“

“It’s like my parents are selling me!” Jaejoong cried, “I don’t want to be engaged to him. I wanted someone to get down on one knee and make my heart flutter as I wait for him to say that -“

“What romance movie did you watch last night?”

Jaejoong glared, “The Prince and Me, but does that matter?” he hissed, “I can’t believe they just agreed to this. I thought they’d be much more rational!”

“They just want the best for you,” Jiyong replied casually as he glanced at the rings he had on his slim fingers, “Jaejoong, if you didn’t like Yunho, then I’m sure they wouldn’t have agreed to the engagement -“

“But I don’t even really like Yunho!”

“You couldn’t stop gushing about how you enjoyed going to McDonald’s with him that one night Jaejoong. If you enjoyed McDonald’s that much with him, imagine how much more in love with him you’ll be when he starts taking you to Paris.”

Jaejoong huffed, “I won’t get swept away by bribery.”

“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend -“

“I’m not a girl!” Jaejoong snapped, “I just want to marry someone I actually know and like. I don’t want to be pressured, and I don’t want thousands of people to know that I’m married to some dude.”

Jiyong stopped walking, and Jaejoong looked at him in confusion. He waved his hand in front of his best friend’s face, “Why did you stop? I thought you said you were hungry and wanted to eat already.”

“Well, it seems like that some dude is here to pick you up,” Jiyong said as he pointed ahead.

Jaejoong turned his head, and his eyes widened when he recognized Yunho standing by his sleek Mercedes Benz. He bit his lip and refused to move in Yunho’s direction until Jiyong shoved him forward.

He gripped his bag tightly and walked slowly until he finally reached Yunho. Jaejoong shifted awkwardly, but kept his gaze directed toward Yunho’s face.

“What do you want?”

“I want to get to know you better,” Yunho admitted honestly, “We got off on a good start, but I think the whole engagement thing kind of…”

“I don’t like it.”

Yunho sighed, “I know, but…it’s just the way things are right now, okay? Can you push it out of your mind and pretend it never happened? Just try to imagine me as that same guy during the night we first met.”

Jaejoong frowned, “I don’t know about that.”

“Come on, please? We got along really well, and I honestly wouldn’t like what we had on our first date to go to waste because of my parents,” Yunho implored, putting on a hopeful expression on his face, “I really do want to have a proper relationship with you.”

“What kind of person gets engaged to a stranger?”

“I think what matters more is that one doesn’t get married to a stranger,” Yunho shot back, “Please Jaejoong? If you’re not free, I can wait -“

“I’m free…” Jaejoong muttered. He glanced at Yunho’s car before he turned his eyes back to Yunho, “I don’t want any cameras following us, and I don’t want to go anywhere fancy. If I’m going to forget about you and your wealth, I want somewhere where I can just appreciate who you are.”

“Okay then,” Yunho said with a huge smile, “I can do that.”

Jaejoong sighed, “Things would’ve been so much easier if nobody had forced this engagement on me. Who knows, maybe if we’d been allowed to proceed on a normal path of a relationship -“

“Well, we can’t escape this,” Yunho said as he opened his car door for Jaejoong. He turned to face the student and smiled charmingly, “So, we might as well make the best of it, right?”

Jaejoong crinkled his nose and frowned, “You seem really upbeat about this.”

“The first couple of people my parents offered to get me engaged to were annoying and after fame and money,” Yunho replied, “I like you…well, I like what I know of you so far. We got along well, and…I’m a bit hopeful that this could go somewhere, but anyway, that’s taking things too far.”

Jaejoong blushed and bit his lip, “Stop it.”

“Stop what?” Yunho asked in confusion, “I didn’t say anything. I was just honest -“

Before Yunho could say anything, Jaejoong poked his chest, “Stop being such a player. Honestly, the words that are coming out of your mouth…”

“I’m not a player!”

“We’ll have to see about that,” Jaejoong teased before he slid into the car and shut the door before Yunho could do it for him.
o-o-o
The drive wasn’t too bad, and aside from Jaejoong teasing Yunho about his choice in music and Yunho teasing Jaejoong about his choice in clothing, they arrived at their destination.

Jaejoong glanced at the building before he turned his head to look at Yunho for an answer, “Where are we…?”

Yunho unbuckled his seatbelt, “We’re eating here. It’s an orphanage that my dad’s company funds and I’m here for my usual weekly visit. You don’t mind, do you?”

“Oh, no, not really,” Jaejoong replied as he unbuckled his seatbelt, “I like children.”

They both exited the car, and Yunho stayed close to Jaejoong as the guards let them enter through the gate, “You don’t need to worry much about food, I always order pizza in advance whenever I come, so -“

“Yunho’s here!”

A large group of children came running, and it wasn’t long until they were completely surrounded by them. Several of them latched onto Yunho, and Jaejoong chuckled as he watched them hound him for attention.

Yunho laughed with the kids and turned to Jaejoong. He pulled Jaejoong closer and placed his arm over Jaejoong’s shoulders, “Guys, this is my friend, Jaejoong. I brought him here to meet all of you, so treat him kindly.”

There was a loud chorus of “Okay!” that came from the children, and as their large group made their way inside the building, Jaejoong felt a hand intertwine with his, and he looked at Yunho.

“What are you -“

He stopped mid-sentence when he realized that both of Yunho’s hands were occupied, and Jaejoong glanced down at his hand and realized that the hand holding his was small, soft, and belonged to a cute little girl.

She smiled at him shyly, and he smiled back at her before scooping her into his arms and asking her, “What’s your name?”

“Bohyung,” the little girl said softly, and Jaejoong smiled at her tenderly as they followed the other kids. Yunho noticed they were lagging behind, and he quickly left the other kids to make his way over to them.

Jaejoong smiled at Yunho, “This is Bohyung,” he introduced, and the little girl latched onto him a little tighter.

“Hi Bohyung,” Yunho greeted kindly before he turned his eyes to Jaejoong and spoke to him, “Do you want me to get you some food? Your hands are full.”

“Ah, sure,” Jaejoong replied, “I like anything, so it won’t matter what flavor of pizza you get me.”

Yunho leaned his face in closer, and Jaejoong felt his heartbeat quicken. He held Bohyung a little tighter, and he was tense until he realized that Yunho was only leaning in closer so that he could ask Bohyung what kind of pizza she wanted.

After she’d replied, Jaejoong watched Yunho go. The children obviously loved him, and Jaejoong bit his lip as he watched Yunho interact with them along his way to the table where all the pizza was.

Was he feeling a bit better about the engagement? No, not really, but what Jaejoong did know was that he was starting to like Yunho a bit more than he already did.
o-o-o
“You know,” Jaejoong said as Yunho sat down next to him on the swings, “This whole day is something a player would pull off.”

“What?” Yunho asked, his voice filled with laughter, “You’re still calling me a player?”

Jaejoong covered his mouth as he chuckled. Yunho laughed at him and sidled closer, and Jaejoong felt himself blush and he turned his head to look at Yunho as soon as he had regained some of his calmness.

“I had fun today.”

“That’s good,” Yunho replied with a fond smile, “The kids were telling me about how much they liked you.”

“I should come back here with you again sometime then,” Jaejoong replied with a small smile, “We should do this again.”

“Yeah…we should.”

They stared at each other in silence, and Yunho’s smile grew a little wider. Jaejoong felt himself blush slightly, and he averted his eyes to look at the kids who were playing a short distance away from them.

“You’re…you’re only upset about the engagement right?” Yunho asked softly, “You’re not upset that you’re engaged to me, are you?”

Jaejoong looked at Yunho and nodded, “I mean, yeah…it’s pretty unnerving to be engaged already, but…at least I’m happy that you’re handling things well.” He smiled a little brighter at Yunho, “You’re not pressuring me into anything, and…it makes things easier for me to adjust.”

“So you’re happy?”

Jaejoong felt his heart flutter in chest, and he nodded, “Yeah, I’m happy. I don’t know how well things are going to work out between you and me, but I think we’re onto a good start, right?”

“Right.”

They smiled at each other, but their quiet moment was broken as soon as the kids started shouting for them to join the game. Yunho stood up first, and he held out his hand to Jaejoong, “Let’s go?”

Jaejoong reached out, took hold of the other man’s hand, and followed him back to where the kids were playing - their hands intertwined the entire time.
