Blimey, how did 2014 pass so fast?
2014 started off rather wonkily - January mainly consisted of me not sleeping enough an injuring myself. I compiled a strained arm, a cut finger (not cut OFF, just... cut), and a strained ancle. Plus I had two massive colds within less than two months. I was still reeling a bit from autumn 2013, where a lot of things didn't go the way I hoped they would, and it just... wasn't a good time for me.
March I had a concert at home, which went really well - I had a great time practising the concerto I played there. <3
April was the month of the Life on Mars meetup. :') Best month of the year.
May-July were... insanely busy. I started attending driving school and stressed myself out with my perfectionism and need to get it all done as quickly as possible. I went to London for less than 48 hours to play for a cellist who teaches at RNCM in Manchester, and who agreed to admit me into his class if my exchange year gets approved of in 2015. I played 3 concerts within a week. I played 6 different concerts within 3 weeks. I had 4 students to teach instead of 2. And yet, I powered through - I didn't even know I was able to do that until it happened. I'm glad that it seems like I managed to grow. :')
Summer was good. I had two friends visit me -
xysabridde and
fern_tree, and both visits were FANTASTIC. We'll need to repeat this soon, guys!! I didn't really practise at all, seeing as I had a whole semester of leave ahead of me - and it really was a much-needed break that I gave myself there. XD
Autumn was... busy and stressful. I continued my driving lessons and got myself more and more stressed over it... failed my first attempt at the practical exam. I'm not used to failing exams at all, so that was like a small apocalypse for me. But the 2nd attempt three weeks later went by without so much as a small mistake (except that I stalled the motor twice, oops), so it's all good. I also won the audition for an internship at the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, which is the local radio symphony orchestra and one of the top-rated orchestras of Germany! So that was a big thing too. The internship started in December, and I already played a project with them and am now in the midst of the second. It really is a great experience - I've never been part of a professional orchestra before, it's really amazing to be part of a group who really take what they do seriously. A vast difference to our uni's orchestra... >_>
Art-wise, I didnt really draw much... or rather, I had bouts where I was super productive, and then long periods of time where I didnt draw at all. It was weird.
All in all, I think 2014 was pretty good - I learned a lot, I kept testing my bounderies, I pushed myself to do new things... and I managed to tick off several big resolutions I had for this year! Yay! I've never managed to do that before. XD So I feel like I can put the lid on 2014 with a god conscience.
For 2015, I'm going to take a hiatus from the internet. No more Tumblr, LJ or Facebook for me. This is mostly because of my internship - I'll be very busy, working an actual job along with my teaching and my studies, so I'd rather like to spend my free time with things other than just... browsing. For now, I'll stay offline until April (I have the whole of April off orchestra, yayyy), and then we'll see. Oh, and I'll make an exception for my birthday too. > v>
That said, you can still find me on twitter as littlecello73, and on instagram as little_cello.
My big goal for 2015 is to make the most of my internship, and to get permission to spend the academic year 2015/16 in Manchester. Furthermore I'd like to spend more time by myself, and work out ways to earn money once I'm done with uni. I don't have that much time left after all....!
Today is the last day that I'll be online; I'm leaving on Monday for a small orchestra tour till Wednesday night, and my hiatus "officially" starts on the 1st of Jan, so... yeah. But I'll be back. <3 I hope you all have a great 2015!!
