Fic: Litmus [1/1] [Merlin/SGA]

Dec 16, 2008 16:47

I'm slightly scared.

So lavvyan  posted Destiny Revisited (Sheppard/McKay, Merlin/Arthur, PG13), quite possibly one of the best realised and most unlikely crossovers I've ever read, and I felt the need to beg permission to write a sort of prequel/missing scenes/how you broke my brain thing. lavvyan  graciously allowed it and here it is- I only hope I do justice ( Read more... )

character: merlin: arthur, character: merlin: merlin, character: stargate atlantis: rodney, character: stargate: john sheppard, character: stargate: elizabeth weir, tv: sga, tv: merlin (2008)

Awesome! Only now I want him to suddenly realise that Radek is Slash Dragon. Just to complete the 'Camelot set'.

He'd be near-evil enough, wouldn't he?! Hee. Thanks very much for reading!

Omg I love you for instantly and permanently making TPTB's attempts at shipping John/Elizabeth so much less creepy, because now I can just think that she's his mammy!
And also because this was so, so excellent!

Eeep! I'm sorry, I did think about the fact that the Sparky ship is rendered Oedipal-ick by this, but Igraine fit Elizabeth too well to do otherwise :/

Thanks very much! :)

No, no it's cool, I always found the ship a little ick, so this fic just raises my comfort level with those moments soo much by taking away any lingering doubts about romantic attachment XD

*is gleeful*

You're welcome!

Hee, I'm relieved! each to their own, and I'm glad to help! (Says the multi-shipping one who'll read pretty much anything with grammar/plot/squee.)

Thank you for telling me! :D

This is really lovely. The idea of bringing Igraine into their circle is very nifty, and you pulled it off beautifully.

this is great! okay, confession time, I haven't watched Merlin (I should probably add a yet to that statement, but it'll keep) what is the test you are referring to? Is it something from Merlin? Is there a significance to the colors you've chosen? Red = blood, blue = honor? Just curious. I love the framework and the structure and it's a great parallel to what lavyan wrote.

Thanks very much! :) (Definitely. *eyes* In fair warning, I must say it is addictive as anything and it *will* suck you in and the fandom is more awesome than awesome squared, so... fair warning *evil grin*).

I was working with a metaphor from science rather than from Merlin to get myself writing, but I didn't want to make it too... beat over the headish? The Litmus test is when you test if a substance is acidic or alkaline by whether paper turns red or blue; destiny is repeating itself because Elizabeth's destiny is red (blood-danger-death), the same as Igraine's was the last time all of these people gathered near the same generation. It came into my head when I realised how unsubtle the colour imagery in Merlin itself is: Arthur is always in red, Merlin in red/blue, Morgana in deep greens and purples, Gwen in 'earthy' browns and yellows.

Thanks very much!
